Final Fantasy XV brings 16-bit buddies and Masamune as digital pre-order bonuses

There is a serious lack of moogles and kupos

Square Enix has revealed a few bonuses for fans who have already placed or plan on placing pre-orders for the upcoming Final Fantasy XV. None of the items are particularly extravagant, but getting additional content for no extra price is always exciting.

For the most part, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gamers will get the same items. Each system has its own exclusive social bonus though. Those who choose to purchase Final Fantasy XV on the Xbox One will get a set of Noctis costumes -- one for females, one for males -- and a cute Carbuncle pet to accompany their Xbox Live avatar. PlayStation 4 owners will instead get their hands on a "Big Bang" XMB theme.

Both consoles will get a few gameplay bonuses as well. Pre-ordering warriors will get a sword, the legendary Masamune, to slice up vile enemies. Additionally, Square Enix is rewarding players with the Angler DLC set and a car skin that shows off 16-bit versions of Final Fantasy heroes.

Unfortunately, all of the pre-order bonuses are exclusive to digital downloads. Players will have to pick Final Fantasy XV up through PlayStation Network or the Xbox Games Store to obtain any of the free content. The next Final Fantasy adventure is set to launch on Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One later this year on September 30, 2016. A PC version has also been discussed and currently has not been ruled out as a possibility.
