DICE’s first person parkour sequel has been delayed yet again, this time to ensure the social elements are working properly.
The new release date for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is June 9, a delay of two weeks. According to a blog post by DICE’s Erik Odeldahl this is to ensure they have time to address feedback on the online social elements, after this weekend’s beta.
There’s no competitive multiplayer as such in the game but the ‘Social Play’ features will allow you to create your own time trials, and compete with your friends for a spot on the leaderboard.
The closed beta begins tomorrow and will end on Tuesday, April 26. It seems to contain a significant part of the final game, so hopefully the small delay will mean a smooth launch.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the game has been delayed, as it was originally supposed to be out in February. Although many fans will feel thankful there was a sequel at all.
