Insomniac is keeping busy. With Song of the Deep coming July 12 through their new publishing partner GameTrust and a new Ratchet and Clank game that just came out, you'd think they have their hands full. Well, you'd be wrong because the company feels it can take on even more. Insomniac has been working on Edge of Nowhere for the Oculus Rift as well, and plans to send you over that virtual edge this summer when the game releases June 6. Okay, so three games at once seems like enough, right? Wrong again. In announcing release dates for Song of the Deep and Edge of Nowhere, the Spyro developer also announced two new VR titles for Oculus Rift, both of which will be playable at E3.
First up is Feral Rites. Available this fall, Feral Rites will have you avenge the death of your father in an action packed adventure-brawler. While exploring this mystical island, you'll work your way through jungles and temples in your quest to master new abilities. Throughout the course of your adventures, you'll even master the ability to transform into a feral beast to overwhelm those responsible for your father's death.
If melee brawls aren't your thing, The Unspoken takes a slightly different route. Instead of turning into a beast and mauling your way past obstacles like in Feral Rites, The Unspoken will take you to a magical world filled with spellcasting and magician's duels. Master the arcane as you learn to work more complex spells and even summon monsters to do your bidding. When you're ready to put your knowledge of the mystic arts to the test, The Unspoken will have PVP combat for you to try and outwit other players. The Unspoken is scheduled to launch this November, giving you plenty of time to soothe your inner rage with Feral Rites before taking on the more delicate task of spellcasting.
All together, Insomniac Games is working on four games right now. All five are currently scheduled for 2016 releases, giving developers no shortage of things to work on this year. With half of the games due out in the next few months, schedules will free up fairly quickly to have more people working on the upcoming VR titles. Ratchet and Clank just released on PlayStation 4 last week on April 12. Edge of Nowhere will launch June 6 for Oculus Rift, followed by Song of the Deep on PS4, Xbox One, and PC July 12.
