Final Fantasy XV must sell at least 10 million units to be a success - Final Fantasy XV for PS4 News
Lifetime sales of Final Fantasy XV must reach at least 10 million units worldwide for the game to earn back the money invested by Square Enix, game director Hajime Tabata has revealed.
That's over the entire lifespan of the game, but it's still a figure which is likely to be sending chills down the spines of some investors.
Is 10 million a totally unrealistic number? In early 2013, Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase revealed that XIII and XIII-2 had shipped 9.7 million combined units in the three years following the Japanese launch of FFXIII.
It's estimated that Final Fantasy XIII may now have shipped something close to 7 million units thanks to PC sales.
Sales of the sequel were much lower, as were sales of spin-off Lightning Returns. A break with FFXIV Online could mean fans are eager for a new offline RPG, however.
