Sniper Elite 4 introduces two new types of X-Ray Kill Cams - Sniper Elite 4 for PS4 News

Sniper Elite 4 will introduce 'Shrapnel' and 'Melee' X-Ray Kill Cams, giving players an even more gruesomely detailed look at enemy deaths.

As seen in the video below, the Shrapnel cam kicks in after destroying explosive items in the environment, like explosive barrels and caches, and tracks fragments of metal and tools entering the enemy's body. The Melee cam, meanwhile, offers a slow-motion X-Ray view of close quarters combat, activating on knife kills or after a particularly heavy blow to the face.

The new cameras join the franchise's famous ballistic X-Ray Kill Cam, which tracks the player's bullet exiting the rifle and soaring into its target, although it isn't yet clear whether the vehicle kill cam introduced in Sniper Elite 3 will return. I can't see why it wouldn't.

Besides that, Sniper Elite 4 also introduces the option to zero your scope, giving hardcore players the ability to more accurately account for bullet drop over long distances, plus more organic, emergent AI that aims to be less predictable than in previous games. The game's smallest map is also said to be around 3x larger than Sniper Elite 3's biggest, with the largest map coming in at around 5x bigger than its predecessor's.

You can check out the first gameplay footage, including a look at the two new Kill Cams, in the video below.

Sniper Elite 4 launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC later this year.
