An open beta is one step below a free game, isn't it? It's a win for everyone: a developer has a chance to see how their game stands up to real players in real-world conditions and those players get a chance to see if a game is right for them. There are four upcoming titles that are having multiplayer open betas in the next few weeks. Below, you'll find information about each beta, what platforms they're on, how long they'll last, and what you need to do to take part.

Want to play the first Gears of War not developed by Epic Games? If you own the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10, you can jump into the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta on April 18. If you didn't, you have to wait until April 25 to try it out! There's no details on how much of the multiplayer mode will be available in the beta.

The remains of Project Titan come together in this team-based multiplayer shooter! If you pre-order Overwatch for PC, Xbox One, or PlayStation 4 before April 29, you'll get into the early access open beta starting on May 3. Everyone else gets a shot two days later on May 5.
