Monster Hunter Generations announced today that you will be able to dress your felyne up as Capcom's Amaterasu!
In celebration of the classic Playstation 2 game Okami turning 10 this week, Capcom announced how they'll be paying respect to the Shinto sun goddess Amaterasu.
LOOK AT HOW CUTE IT IS! I can't get enough of those little, "mew-mews" the cat keeps making. Sorry, lost my composure for a second when I saw a a cat dressed as a sun goddess taking the form of a wolf.
The downloadable content will be available alongside the release of Monster Hunter Generations this summer. Players will receive an outfit for their companion Felyne, which is essentially a cat that stands on its hind legs and beats down monsters alongside your hunter. They are so adorable it's almost criminal. Also included in the deal is Amaterasu's signature divine Glaive for cutting down those who stand against her divine power.
The Monster Hunter series is known for its cross references, with the previous title also making mention of games such as Legend of Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter, Super Mario and more.
Additionally, other content has been promised with the release of this game for owners of the previous title, and Japan has received an equally adorable Mega Man gear update.
Monster Hunter Generations will also have several other new features, including a Prowler mode where players can take control of the Felyne. There will be three villages from previous titles, as well as a newer location called Verma Village. Weapons will also now have attack styles, which will allow for variation for players even when using the same weapon types.
Capcom has always done a great job with their Monster Hunter franchise, and it's going to be pretty exciting being able to play as Amaterasu again, even if it is only in homage to the fantastic Playstation 2 title from over a decade ago.
