HP is bringing the bling in its recently announced, two limited-edition Spectre 13 laptops. The company hired world-renowned designers Tord Boontje and Jess Hannah to swank up its Spectre 13 laptop, and boy did they go all-out with the Swarovski crystals.
The press release states the two laptops “encapsulate luxury with texture,” others may argue the designs are a bit garish. You decide.
The model by designer Tord Boontje features a series of ornate graphic patterns flowing across the lid of the Spectre laptop. Flowers are studded with Swarovski crystals, and vines, a peacock, and a butterfly are drawn out in 18k gold. These patterns sit on a deep Midnight Blue backdrop.
The other Spectre laptop designed by Jess Hannah takes minimalism to a level only Donald Trump could appreciate. It features a solid 18k gold lid, save for the HP logo, which is encrusted with diamonds. The interior features much the same mix, with a gold deck accented by a power button made of diamonds. Pretty spartan design, right?
Even the keyboard got reworked. The letters on the keys have a handwritten quality, printed in a delicate, flowery cursive.
These designers models feature the same internal specs as the non-bling Spectre 13 laptops. So, it’s safe to say these laptops are all flash, but it’s all for a good cause. The computers will be auctioned off for charity with the proceeds going toward the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Just for reference, the Spectre 13 laptops are worth around $1,200 dollars sans gold, diamonds, and Swarovski crystals.
